VTC Faizabad (Vocational Training Centre Faizabad)
Located in Uttar Pradesh, just outside Faizabad city, the Vocational Training Centre (VTC) has been providing vocational training for people affected by leprosy, disability and students from marginalised families since 1992.
Each year the VTC aims to provide education to 800 students at their residential centre and in through community-based education. The VTC partners with local industry partners to offer education in trades of demand within the state of Uttar Pradesh.
At their residential centre, trades on offer include diesel mechanic, refrigeration, electrical, computer operator and cutting and sewing courses.
The centre offers community-based education in the villages in skills such as tailoring, beautician, candle making and basic electronics.
In addition, the VTC works with local businesses to train them in disability inclusion and fair labour conditions. This increases the job opportunities for individuals with leprosy and disability and creates more inclusive communities.
Currently, upon graduation, approximately 80% of graduates are able to obtain employment.
